Who Are We?


The VOC Foundation is the registered owner of the historical VOC logo in South Africa.

Our newsletter Generale Missive with local and foreign VOC news appears quarterly.

The Foundation invites the public on visits to places of VOC interest, lectures and other activities.

Free admission to ordinary meetings and use of the Foundation’s library to members.

Everyone interested in the VOC period is welcome to become a member.

Our Aims


Cultivate interest in the VOC period at the Cape (1652-1795).

Promote conservation of artefacts, e.g. buildings, wrecks, documents and porcelain from the period

Conduct research about the VOC, locally and overseas.

Study the indigenous Cape people, the Koina.

Promote VOC cultural tourism.
